Prime Minister Mark Carney has called urgent national byelections for three Canadian seats. Voters in Brantford-Brant, Ontario; Châteauguay-Lacolle, Quebec; and Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke, British Columbia will vote on August 31. Campaigning is ramping up quickly, with political sides selecting candidates and locking in strategies. The Conservatives have vowed to push federal probes on two top matters: construction oversight of the Gordie Howe bridge and Washington’s proposed tariff measures.
