Acclaimed artist Yayoi Kusama has passed away. She held her paintbrushes until right before she passed away. She experienced hallucinations during her childhood. Kusama transformed those childhood hallucinations into famous art. Polka dots became her primary theme. They appeared across her many paintings and art pieces.

Kusama won the Praemium Imperiale award for her contributions in art. Her work gained global fame. One creation, the Red Pumpkin artwork, became a symbol of Naoshima island. She kept working until her death. She created art inspired by her early childhood experiences and her signature polka dots.
