Nine crew members from China were taken into custody in connection with illegal fishing in waters near Yeonpyeong Island.

Coast guard officers earned a special award for their work. They had driven away illegal Chinese crab boats in the area.

In a separate incident, a prawn fisher from West Vancouver was fined $5,000. The fine was issued because he dropped traps near glass sponge reefs.

Officials have announced there will be no fishing for coho salmon in Lake Washington. The closure covers anglers there.
