OCEARCH reported that Contender, the largest great white shark tracked in the program at 1,600 pounds, has reached Newfoundland waters. This is the first time a tagged shark from the program has moved into those waters. Contender is the largest shark OCEARCH has ever tagged.

In a separate incident, a surfer was attacked by a shark at Glenfield Beach in Western Australia. Shark attack survivor Leah Stewart recalled "My heart stopped" as she shared new information about the incident. Scientists also detailed discovering the world's largest shark.
