Essendon Defender Jordan Ridley Heads to Geelong

Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been sent to Geelong, with the deal finalised on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been strongly connected to the Cats after Essendon placed a firm price on the defender. Essendon were unwilling to let him go cheaply throughout the trade period.

The completed swap gives Geelong an seasoned backline option while Essendon receives Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is a multi-position player who bolsters the Essendon list heading into the upcoming year.
