Red Lobster has decided to close 163 of its restaurants. The chain has operated for 58 years. This comes amid a bigger wave of closures affecting restaurant chains right now.

A few locations have already been confirmed. The Palm Desert, California location got the news on a Monday. The Springfield outlet will close as well. The company has not released the complete list yet, and they haven't said when all the shutdowns will wrap up. The closures were reported on 30 August 2026. Diners nationwide will feel the impact.
