Former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason came back to the Superdome during Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season, marking 20 years since his historic punt block. Gleason, who has been living with ALS for 15 years, met up again with former teammate Michael Koenen at the Rebirth statue as part of Domecoming celebrations.

The moment was clearly emotional for fans and players alike, given how deeply connected Gleason's story is to the city of New Orleans and the Saints organization. The Rebirth statue, erected in his honor, served as the gathering point for the reunion.

Gleason also took part in leading a second line during the festivities. The second line is a deep-rooted local tradition that has taken on personal meaning with the city over the years. His involvement in the celebration drew strong responses from fans in attendance.
