The San Diego Padres reinstated pitcher Walker Buehler off the paternity list ahead of NLDS Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers, placing him on their playoff roster. His return takes up a roster slot created by a separate paternity list move.

Closer Mason Miller was moved to the paternity list before the game, leaving San Diego without its top bullpen arm in an elimination matchup. Buehler steps into a Padres bullpen that now has to operate without Miller, who had been their main late-inning arm heading into the series.
