An ABC national forum explored how media presents migration across the news cycle. One Nation has proposed cutting migration by 750,000 places over three years. Senator Barnaby Joyce stood by the plan and played down warnings of economic harm. He said the warnings were blown out of proportion.

Separately, MP Andrew Hastie said Joyce apologised to him following a public outburst. Hastie confirmed the apology. The forum also turned to how language and labels can shape public views toward migration.
