Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas wants greater first-team minutes under recently appointed manager Andoni Iraola. His preseason opportunity comes after Iraola’s first match in charge saw Liverpool beat Sunderland by 4-2 in Nashville. Sunderland, freshly lost to by Liverpool, now appears as a potential loan option for Koumas. The young joined Sunderland’s training camp this week but may face heavy competition for playing time from other homegrown players. Iraola began his role on July 24, 2026, with Koumas one of several academy products pushing for a larger involvement in the first team.
